"NO H8" Campaign!

Two days ago, my friend Kat (who is also a photographer) from White Cedar Photography asked me and my twin sister to support a large gay rights campaign called NO H8. As soon as she asked I immediately said "yes". Me, my sister and 4 other models were assigned a task, we were to place duct tape on our mouths and place removable tattoos on our cheeks saying "NO H8". I love taking a stand in something I strongly believe in.. and even though I am straight, I believe all people deserve equality. California State's Proposition 8 law bans all gay marriages. And it's wrong. This is why Adam Brouska (the photographer behind NOH8) created this campaign. It's a silent way to protest through pictures, but it sure makes a statement. Many people, even celebrities have taken a stand. How can someone tell another they cant marry because of gender? It's their personal choice and life. Their personal lives shouldn't concern the state, so why ban it? It's unfair and unjust. Government tells us we have separated church from state. If this is true, why is this church value still established within our human rights? Why are gays, bisexuals, and trans genders not "allowed" to get married? If someone loves another, it is their right to marry if they choose to. The government has already spent millions of dollars trying to separate gay partners from each other. The government should give equality back to the gays and start putting their millions to good use.
The government is discriminating gays and because of this Proposition 8 law, many others will start to do the same. I have many gay friends, and I love them all. Their good people and they deserve to be treated with as much respect as straights.
This is why we took a stand, and hopefully those who agree with my beliefs will too.
Equality shouldn't be an option, it should be accepted.
Go to www.noH8campaign.com and fight for equality.

How to acheive the new trend of a Boyfriend Jean Short.

Today I decided to go into my step father's closet and pull out an old pair of unused jeans. I needed inspiration..and since the newest trend is baggy high waisted jean shorts, I decided to cut me up some. All you have to do is snip the jeans just below the knees and roll them over twice. There you have it..the new boyfriend trend! You don't need to be a fashion designer to make this easy design. ;)

Here's clips of the jean trend on the left..and then my new pair of shorts I cut up on the right..

WHALAA!.. your new high waisted boyfriend jean shorts. Now go cut up your fathers old jeans lol.

Street Smart Fashion.

Here's a collection of fashion styles you can imitate.
As you can see, high wasted bubble skirts, pants and shorts are the new thing.
It's funny, current style seems to be going back to the 70's with a bit more edge.
Check out these girls rockin' the streets in style...

A spring funeral.

Of my portfolio, I personally like these shots of me and my twin sister the most. All these pictures are very editorial and subtle.
We took these photos at ..yes a graveyard. At first, I was doubtful that I would go through with this because I felt it was disrespectful taking shots near gravestones, but in fact I think these shots have shown the beauty of this graveyard.
The photographer knew exactly what she wanted and her vision came through for me..
Check em out.. =)

Colour in Actions.

So I organized a shoot about a week ago with designer Kirsten Summersgill and photographer Rachel Mackay. Both astounding people and artists. These pictures will be displayed in the Aura magazine addition 2010 as I recall.. so keep posted for the magazine. Also, I'll be sending these photos to New York agencies for feedback..I'll keep you posted ;)
I love the designs I got to wear, very colorful, and the way Rachel (the photographer) captured the lighting and mood.
Here's samples of that specific shoot..

Rad by Rad Collection.

This designer is definitely one of my favorites. His name is Rad Hourani, he is one of the first Indie designers from Canada to make it "Big" in the New York scene. All his clothing is unisex but all pieces make strong statements.
I love the layered draped look he captures in his pieces.
Here's some of Hourani's designs..
Q. What’s the ultimate vision you wish to get across through your clothing?
Unisex, timeless, long, straight, silk, black. (Hourani's interview with prim.magazine)

You can buy these designs by Hourani and much more at http://www.radhourani.com/collections/frontpage
